The Devon Witches: Judgement

The last people executed for witchcraft in England were hanged at Exeter, Devon, in 1682. A memorial plaque commemorating the four condemned women was the starting point for the "Witchcraft Series".  They are named on this tapestry, and the frame consists of words for "witch" in Latin, Anglo-Saxon and Middle English, plus a quote from the charges against Temperance Lloyd.
